Ibiza, often called the White Island for its typical architecture, became a major tourist destination during the 1960s, being then famous for its "Hippie-Culture" and nudist beaches. Today Ibiza has widened its appeal to cater for families and older visitors, but any visitor to the Island should remember that San Antonio is like Amsterdam with sun. The young ones are attracted by the island's rollicking nightlife, which starts in the afternoon, at the beaches and in the centre of town and continues until dawn in the numerous discotheques. Unless you're looking for a lively holiday then it's best to keep away from San Antonio town. Having made it plain and clear about San Antonio town, San Antonio Bay and the rest of the island is totally different and some great resorts and beaches can be easily found.
